Install XXUDNB2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Official Update on Galaxy Note 3

Samsung just rolled out the official OTA Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 N9000 handsets. The firmware is as usual gradually released and currently it is available in limited markets only. The update is dubbed as XXUDNB2 and represents a major OS improvement that can be anytime flashed on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Since XXUDNB2 is OTA available and since you might have problems in receiving the same, during the following lines I will show you how to manually install the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat software on your Galaxy Note 3, so don’t hesitate and check the guidelines from below.

First of all, it should be clear for you that this is a manual update operation. Even though you will manually install the firmware, you will still apply the official XXUDNB2 Android 4.4.2 OS – the same update as the OTA release. Therefore your Galaxy Note 3 will be manually updated to official Android system. Thus, this operation is official and can be safely completed even by a newbie – you don’t have to use complex or custom tools and everything will be working just fine, especially if you follow the steps from below.

XXUDNB2 brings the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat features, apps and capabilities to your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, this update being also stable, fast and cool in term of themes, wallpapers and so on. Since we are dealing with an official roll out, the XXUDNB2 works without lags or issues and according to those who have already installed the Android KitKat firmware, the same is smoothly running on the Galaxy Note 3. The update also comes installed with some stability improvements and with other features that can be used for optimizing the performances, customizing the looks and upgrading the battery life of your phablet.

As you will see, for being able to manually update your Note 3 to official Android 4.4.2 OS, Odin will be used. As you might know, Odin is an official tool which is designed and also offered by Samsung. Odin is usually used especially on update operations, though it will work only for Samsung branded devices. Therefore, you have nothing to worry about; XXUDNB2 is not a custom ROM so root access won’t be revoked. Furthermore you don’t have to flash the update file by using a custom recovery as Odin will take care of that.

Of course, this step by step guide can be safely applied for both rooted and un-rooted / locked Android smartphones. If your Note 3 is currently rooted or flashed with a custom ROM, now root access will be revoked and stock Android OS re-installed. Because of that this guide should be bookmarked – you can anytime use it for restoring the warranty on your phablet (the warranty usually gets void when performing unofficial procedures like gaining root access, unlocking the bootloader and so on) or for unbricking your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9000 by downgrading to stock Android XXUDNB2 KitKat firmware.

When using Odin, everything should work without any kinds of issues. But, in rare cases bad things might happen. Because of that the best will be to backup your data before going any further – save the data which is there on the internal storage memory of your Android smartphone. In order to make a proper backup I recommend you to access Google Play and download free and dedicated backup and restore apps; in this way you can save your contacts list, text messages, EFS folder, market apps, personal accounts and info and everything else that you might need afterwards.

In other point of ideas, for safely completing this tutorial you will have to use a computer, your Android device and its USB cable. Since a connection between these devices must be established, on your phablet you should enable USB debugging option – just go to “menu – settings – developer options”. Also, the best will be to deactivate the security protection that is featured on your PC – in some cases the antivirus programs for example are interfering with the update process. Furthermore, you should charge your Note 3 before going any further – if your smartphone gets turned off in the middle of the installation procedure it might also get bricked. Finally, do note that Samsung released XXUDNB2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS only for the Galaxy Note model number N9000. Because of that this tutorial is compatible only with the mentioned Android smartphone – don’t use the steps from below for a different or similar device as you can damage its system.

How to Install XXUDNB2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Official Update on Galaxy Note 3

  1. Go here and download the update file on your computer.
  2. Then, download Odin.
Download Odin3 v3.09 from here or here or here
  3. Unzip Odin on desktop and then install the program by following the on-screen prompts.
  4. Unzip the firmware file on the same folder as Odin.
  5. Install the Galaxy Note 3 drivers on your computer – you can use Samsung KIES for completing this task.
  6. Now, run Odin on your PC and turn off your phablet.
  7. Enter your Android device in download mode.
  8. For reaching download mode press power, volume down and home buttons at the same time.
  9. Use the USB cable and connect your smartphone with your computer.
  10. Then take a look on Odin; on the program the “added” message should be displayed while the ID:COM section should be yellow or blue.
  11. If that’s not happening, try to close Odin. Also unplug the USB cord and reinstall the drivers on your computer. Then repeat the steps from above.
  12. From Odin pick the update file. In order to do so, just click on “PA”.
  13. Don’t change anything else in Odin and click on “start”.
  14. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS will now be installed on your Note 3.
  15. In the end, on the program the “pass” message will be displayed. Also the ID:COM section will be now green.
  16. You can safely remove the USB cable; reboot your phone because you are done.
Some users reported that during the update process Odin was stuck; if that happens, close the program and unplug the USB cord. Force restart your device, reflash the drivers on your computer and reapply the steps from above. Also, your handset might get stuck in a boot loop after applying the firmware; in that case reboot your Android device in recovery mode. From there select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”. Return, select “reboot system now” and you have solved your problem. For a dedicated troubleshooting guide, don’t hesitate and use the tutorial from here.

Congratulations; you have successfully manually installed official Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUDNB2 update on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9000. Stay close as we will soon bring a suitable root procedure for the new software. Also, use the comments field from below for sharing your experience with us and with other users who might want to use this guide.

Install Android 4.4.2 XXUFNBE KitKat Firmware on Galaxy S4 LTE I9505

Samsung just released a new official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the LTE version of the Galaxy S4 smartphone. The KitKat March release is dubbed as XXUFNBE OS and brings important stability improvements to the Galaxy S4 I9505. The software is OTA available in limited markets only while some of the S4 users will receive the XXUFNBE OS sooner than others, so because of that you can anytime use this step by step guide for learning how to manually install official XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware (the March 2014 roll out) on your Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE I9505.

Like any other OTA roll out, the XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2 firmware will be offered gradually and in phases therefore some of the Galaxy S4 users will receive the update sooner than others. Also, in some cases the OTA release can’t be “over-the-air” flashed – for example if you have rooted your Android smartphone or if you have installed it with a custom ROM software. So, in that situations and not only you will have to flash the official ROM manually; because of that this tutorial can be extremely useful for you.

Furthermore, for being able to apply the guidelines from below you don’t need to have a rooted phone. Android 4.4.2 XXUFNBE KitKat OS represents and official update so you can manually flash the same on both rooted and locked Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 (if you have a rooted device, after completing this tutorial the root access will be revoked). Because of that now you can restore the warranty of your Android device (if it has been previously voided – usually the warranty gets void when you gain root access or flash a custom ROM) and you can also un-brick your Galaxy S4, as you will restore your phone to stock firmware. So, the best will be to bookmark this tutorial because it might be helpful for you in the future too.

In case you are wondering, XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2 OS represents only a minor update. The firmware comes for the Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 with no new features, apps and capabilities, though stability improvements and bug fixes will be added. Therefore, XXUFNBE is a stable variant of KitKat OS which is smoothly running on the Samsung Galaxy S4. According to those who have already flashed and tested the XXUFNBE system, the new update is working without bugs, or any other reported issue. Also, the OS is running without lags and by using the new software you will be able to optimize the performances, improve the battery life and gain more speed on your Android smartphone.

As you can see you have all the reasons for installing Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUFNBE OS on your LTE Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505. For doing so Odin will be used; Odin is an official program developed by Samsung and compatible only with Samsung braded devices. Also, Odin is especially used on update operations so you have nothing to worry about as you won’t have to use complex and risky apps and procedures. This is an official operation which will install the official Android update on your S4. Do remember that it is an manual update procedure, so stick to the guidelines from this tutorial, or else you can mess things up and brick your Android smartphone.

The best will be to backup the Galaxy S4 data before going any further. In some cases, rare ones, after flashing the ROM by using Odin, your smartphone might get stuck in a boot loop (see the troubleshooting section from below). In that case a wipe will be required which means you can lose everything that’s saved on the internal storage memory of your device. Because of that I recommend you to apply the mentioned backup – just use compatible backup and restore apps from Google Play and save everything that you might need afterwards.

Then prepare a computer (it must run on Windows), your Galaxy S4 and its USB cable as explained below. On your computer deactivate the security protection; do that for all the antivirus-like programs as these tools might interfere with our work. Then since a connection between your smartphone and your computer will be required, on your device go to “menu – settings – developer options” and enable the USB debugging option. Furthermore, on your phone check the battery status: if you notice less than 50% power left, take your time and plug in the charger – you can brick your S4 in case it gets turned off in the middle of the update operation.

It is important to know that Samsung rolled out XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2 KitKat update only for the LTE model of the Samsung Galaxy S4 (I9505). Because of that you should use the steps from below only if you own the mentioned handset (the tutorial is compatible only with SGS4 model number I9505); else you can end up in bricking your Android device.

How to Install Android 4.4.2 XXUFNBE KitKat Firmware on Galaxy S4 LTE I9505

  1. From this page download the XXUFNBE official Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware file.
  2. Model: GT-I9505
    Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE
    Country: Malaysia
    PDA: I9505XXUFNBE
  3. Place the update on desktop.
  4. Also, download Odin and unzip the package on desktop. (Download Odin3 v3.09 from here or here or here.)
  5. On the same folder as Odin unzip the firmware file.
  6. Install Odin by following the on-screen prompts.
  7. Flash the Galaxy S4 drivers on your computer – use Samsung KIES in that matter.
  8. Run Odin on your computer.
  9. Turn off your Android smartphone.
  10. You now need to reboot in download mode: just press on power, volume down and home buttons at the same time.
  11. Connect your device with your computer via USB cable.
  12. Odin will communicate with your handset and if everything works fine, on the program the “added” message will be displayed and the ID:COM section will turn yellow or blue.
  13. If not you will have to disconnect your devices and close Odin. Try to reinstall the drivers on your PC and then repeat the steps from above.
  14. Now from Odin click on the option dubbed as “PA” and then pick the firmware file from your computer.
  15. Don’t make any other changes on the program; click on “start”.
  16. Wait while the update is being applied and don’t press anything.
  17. In the end on Odin the “pass” message will be displayed and the ID:COM section will turn green.
  18. You can unplug the USB cable and reboot your device.

Troubleshooting

As I have mentioned before when talking about the backup, in the end your smartphone might get stuck in a boot loop. Well, if that happens, reboot your Galaxy S4 in recovery mode. Then from recovery mode select “wipe data factory reset” followed by “wipe cache partition”. Go back to main menu of recovery and select “reboot system now”. Everything should be working as expected. On the other hand, during the update operation Odin might get stuck too. If that occurs, you need to close the program and unplug the USB cord. Also, force restart your phone and reflash its drivers on the computer; then reapply the update operation from above and that’s It – for resolving other issues try to use our dedicated step by step tutorial.
Good job; you have successfully installed official Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUFNBE firmware on your Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 LTE. That was all for now but stay close as we will bring a compatible root method with the new XXUFNBE software during the following days. Also, test the new ROM and see how it performs on your Galaxy S4; then use the comments field from below and share your experience with us and with other users who might want to use our dedicated step by step guide.

The firmware update is the first KitKat build released for the Galaxy Note 2 LTE, which had been running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean so far. The new firmware, which was rolled out in various countries, can also be downloaded for a manual installation.

Here is a tutorial, showing how to upgrade the Galaxy Note 2 LTE to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat N7105XXUFND3 using Odin. But before trying their hands on the installation process, users should be aware of certain aspects:

- All data stored in the handset should be backed up properly
- The handset must have at least 80 percent battery power
- The USB drivers for the device must be installed on the computer
- USB Debugging must be enabled
- After flashing the firmware, any installed custom ROM will be lost
- Custom recovery, such as ClockworkMod Recovery or TWRP, will also be lost

Note: International Business Times cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong. Users should proceed at their own risk.

Step 1: Download the firmware package and extract the zip file. There will be a .tar.md5 file along with some other files.

Step 2: Download Odin v3.09, and extract the zip file. There will be an Odin3 v3.09.exe file along with some other files.

Step 3: Run Odin3 v3.09 as an Administrator.

Step 4: Boot the Galaxy Note 2 into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. After a warning message appears, press Volume Up key to enter Download Mode.

Step 5: Connect the Galaxy Note 2 to the computer via the USB cable and wait until an Added!! message appears in bottom left box in Odin.

Step 6: Click on the AP button in Odin and select the .tar.md5 file which was extracted in Step 1.

Step 7: In Odin, ensure that only the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked.

Step 8: Click on the Start button in Odin to begin flashing.

Step 9: After the process is complete, you will see “PASS!” message in ID:COM port with green background and the device will restart automatically.

Nexus 4 KitKat Download

  1. Rename the package you've downloaded to "update.zip" (no quotes)
  2. Place the update.zip package into the Android SDK/platform-tools folder on your computer (do not unzip it).
  3. Power off your tablet
  4. Hold down the volume up, volume down and power buttons when turning on your tablet.
  5. Your tablet should startup into the fastboot menu, when you see that connect your Nexus tablet to your computer via USB.
  6. Use the volume up/down keys to navigate to "Recovery mode", then press the power button to boot into recovery.
  7. When the Android with the red exclamation point appears, press the power and volume up buttons at the same time. This should open the recovery menu.
  8. Use the volume up/down keys to select "apply update from ADB," then press power to select it.
  9. On your computer, open up a command prompt or terminal window.
  10. Using the command line, navigate to the Android SDK/platform-tools folder on your computer
  11. On Windows, type: adb.exe sideload update.zip; on Mac, type: ./adb-mac sideload update.zip; on Linux, type: ./adb sideload update.zip
  12. The update should begin installing; and when it's done, select "reboot system now" using the volume buttons, and power to select
  13. That's that, you should now be running Android 4.4.

Note: we didn't have to toggle on ADB debugging for this to work, but if it doesn't work for you, maybe turning that option on will help. To do that, you need to first access the Development options by going to Settings > About and tapping the Build number 7 times. Then, go to Settings > Development options and enable USB debugging under the "Debugging" menu group.

CWM 6.0.2.8 for Allwinner A10 & A13 Tablets [XDA]

Installation

The files are packaged as update zips and can be installed from your existing stock or CWM recovery. Alternately, you can unzip the file and install it from a normally-booted system using a script.

From Recovery: Copy the entire file still zipped to your internal or external (removable) SD card. Reboot into Recovery, then choose 'install zip from sdcard'. Root access is not required if CWM is installed this way.

From a Running System: Unzip the file and copy recovery.img and install-recovery.sh to your internal or external SD card. Next, either run "adb shell" or open the Terminal app, then change the directory to where you stored the files. If you're using Terminal, start by running "su" to get root access (you may already have it if using adb). Now, type in "sh install-recovery.sh" then press Enter. Messages will appear telling you whether it succeeded or failed.

Which version should I choose?

Do I have an A10 or A13? From an adb shell or from the Terminal Emulator app, run "cat /proc/cpuinfo". Look next to the 'Hardware' entry: it should say either "sun4i" (A10) or "sun5i" (A13). If it says anything else, don't use these files.

Do I have 9, 10, or 11 partitions? From an adb shell or from the Terminal Emulator app, run "cat /proc/partitions". If the last of the "nand" entries is "nandi", you have 9; if it's "nandj", you have 10; if it's "nandk", you have 11. If you choose the wrong version, everything else will work correctly but CWM won't be able to mount your internal SD card (a.k.a.'/emmc'). If so, try installing the other version.
